When opened in April 2000, Mondo Organics was Australia's first organic restaurant. Founder Brenda Fawdon, a chef and restaurateur, came up with he concept for an eco friendly and sustainable organic restaurant after viewing a television documentary on genetically engineered food. With partners Sonja Drexler and Dominique Rizzo, Mondo Organics has since grown to retail outlet, catering business, cooking school and Italian gourmet food and wine tours.
